14k Vermeil is sterling silver that has been gold plated. These items, therefore, contain some qualities of gold and also the qualities of silver. Over a long period of time the gold will tarnish and you will be left with a silver piece that is very easy to get plated again. The aging of these pieces though, is sometimes more beautiful then the piece in its original state. Please do not shower or swim with these pieces, as this will cause the plating to deteriorate.
